It's like the brushing of the teeths. Some times you need a cavity to remind you to do it more often. The sweet new advertisement for the Honda Odyssey is that cavity boys and girls. This advertisement has two purposes. Obviously it is trying to convince all of us to purchase a Honda Odyssey. (Which we should. Think of what it would do for the economy if everyone who read this web site went out tomorrow and bought a damn Honda Odyssey. Goodbye recession! Hello easy street!) But this Honda Odyssey ad has a higher purpose. It is like the little golden angel we pin to our sweaters. It is like the hymnal resting in the hymnal shelf on the back of the pew. It is like the cavity at the dentist's office. It has been brought to us to remind us to do something we shouldn't have to remember to do. IT SHOULD BE SECOND NATURE. But ALAS it isn't. It just isn't. So please watch this ad (watch it a few times if necessary) and remember: RESPECT THE VAN. Amen. (Also don't forget to brush and floss. The dentist isn't cheap and those Honda Odysseys aren't going to buy themselves!)
On a serious side note go to the youtube page for this video to join the furious debates about this controversial advertisement. Do you think it's uncool to make what vbud81 calls a "jap-box commercial" using all American vans? Or do you agree with TheEnweb when he says, "Doesn't this commercial just say "Respect The Van"? You know, there not saying that these are our vans and the Honda is better. It's just representing the history of the van (like Chevy and Ford etc.)" (I wish I could say that I've typed truer words TheEnweb, but I can't say that I have. I simply can't.) And most importantly do you think it's okay that Honda is implying that the A-Team van was a Honda when in reality it was a GMC? I pity the fool who doesn't take a side on these crucial disputes.
